Before you travel

‍

If you plan to take a trip or spend a semester overseas, look up @travelgov’s country-specific information for your destination at travel.state.gov/destination. You can check the travel advisory level, find passport and visa requirements, learn about banned items, and save the contact info for the nearest U.S. embassy all in one place.

‍

Specific information from the U.S. Embassy and Consulate in Spain and Andorra can be found at es.usembassy.gov.

Stay alert

‍

U.S. citizens are common pickpocket targets when traveling overseas. Avoid hanging your bags on the back of chairs or setting your phone out on tables in public. Keep an especially close eye on your belongings in train stations and public squares.

Stay connected

‍

One of the easiest things you can do for some peace of mind while traveling internationally is to sign up for @travelgov’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). It’s an easy way to receive updates from us on any security threats or severe weather events while abroad. You can receive alerts for the duration of your choosing and unsubscribe at any time. It also makes it easier for the U.S. embassy to contact you in an emergency. Enroll your next trip at step.state.gov.

‍

Receive alerts and other helpful information from the U.S. Embassy in Spain by WhatsApp. Use this link  to follow the U.S. Citizens in Spain and Andorra WhatsApp Channel. If you do not have WhatsApp, you will need to first install it on your device.
